I came across an interesting study that reported the Top 10 Rules for Small Business Success. There was one in particular, it was in the top 5, that I wanted to share because anyone can do it. It takes no special skill set or advanced training. And everyone on your Team should be doing this too. SAY THANK YOU. A LOT. Tell your patients and team members how much you appreciate them. Your patients are bombarded with information; let them know that you value them and that you’re glad that they’ve chosen your office.
Better yet, say thank you the old fashioned way. Take pen to paper and write them a note. There’s so much technology that is supposed to connect us, but nothing says I care about you, more than a hand written message. Plus, it’s something that patients and team members won’t delete. I have a personal note that I’ve kept for years that still means a great deal to me. One of the first doctors I worked with left this on my desk… ************ “Julie, You’re effort and commitment is always noticed. Dr. French.”
Now this probably took him 10 seconds to write but the sentiment is lasting. If I’m having ‘one of those days,’ I pull this out, read it, re-set and I’m ready to go. If this was sent in an email, I probably wouldn’t even recall that it was ever said.
So, your action step is to review your patient schedule for next week. Choose 5 patients that you’re going to say thank you to or jot them a quick note. Get your Team involved with this too. Have them select their own group of patients to thank. Plus, you’ll experience the confidence of knowing that you are doing one of the top 5 rules for business success!
